Why I built it
Waiting for a DVA claim to be processed can be frustrating, particularly when it is difficult to know exactly where the claim is in the process.
I originally developed this spreadsheet to keep track of my own DVA claims. I wanted one place where I could record what had happened, when it happened and how long each claim had been waiting.
Over time it developed into a more comprehensive claim tracking tool, including automatic business-day calculations, claim status tracking, correspondence records and regular email reporting.
When you ring DVA they have all the information in front of them and can refer to it very quickly. I hope this enables you to have the relevant information in front of you when you ring them.

- Keep track of multiple claims at the same time.
- Record important dates and claim activity.
- See how many business days a claim has been waiting.
- Identify claims that have been sitting without activity.
- Keep a history of your interactions with DVA.
- Receive a regular summary without opening the spreadsheet.
It does not change the DVA claims process and does not provide legal, medical or advocacy advice. It simply provides a way of keeping your own records.
Why Google Sheets?
The tracker is deliberately developed in Google Sheets so the spreadsheet, Google Drive storage and Apps Script automation can work together. This allows one live copy to be accessed across devices and enables automated claim calculations and reports.
Using the Tracker on a Phone or Tablet
The Google Sheets tracker works on iPhone and iPad for viewing and editing. The custom buttons currently require Google Sheets on a desktop computer.
Scheduled reports continue to operate automatically.
